Clinical Trials

There are many reasons to participate in a clinical research trial. It is possible the treatment being tested will improve your health. A new drug or new procedures may reduce pain or perhaps even cure your illness. All clinical research trial patients receive a great deal of personal medical attention. You may also decide to participate in a clinical research trial for the satisfaction that comes from being a part of scientific research. Many people hope for a breakthrough treatment that will make coping with an illness easier or eliminate it altogether. Clinical research trial volunteers help make those discoveries available to people across the country and around the world.

The benefits of participating could include compensation for participating in a clinical trial. As a study participant you can help others understand the importance of clinical trials.

What Is a Clinical Trial?

clinical trial is a carefully designed research study that helps doctors and scientists evaluate new ways to prevent, detect, or treat health conditions. These studies are essential for advancing medicine and ensuring that new therapies are both safe and effective.

Clinical trials follow strict federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards to protect the rights, safety, and wellbeing of participants. Every trial is reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) before it begins.

Why They Matter

Clinical trials give patients access to innovative treatments before they are widely available, while contributing to discoveries that can improve care for future generations.

What Participants Can Expect

  • Careful health assessments, such as physical exams, lab tests, or imaging
  • Study-related medication or procedures, often at no cost to participants
  • Ongoing monitoring by experienced medical professionals
  • The option to withdraw at any time if they choose
By taking part in a clinical trial, participants play an active role in shaping the future of healthcare.

Your initial appointment will take approximately 1 to 2 hours and may involve getting a physical examination, labs drawn, an EKG, as well as, a pain-free non-invasive ultrasound-like scan of your liver, called a FibroScan. At the end of your appointment, you’ll receive a copy of your results to take home with you.

If this is your first visit to Verity Health PNW, please remember to fast for at least 3 hours prior to your appointment and please bring in a list of your current medications.
